PABLO SEPULVEDA-ROSSO CHILEAN-CROATIAN IN SAN PEDRO

February 06, 2008, San Pedro, CA — A Chilean-Croatian has brought Croatian kolo back to the Croatian Cultural Center! Pablo Sepulveda-Rosso was born in Antofagasta Chile and came to Los Angeles in 2007. Ever since he has been working on helping and educating fellow Croatians with information regarding Croatian folklore. Needless to say the Los Angeles area is extremely grateful to have Pablo in its community.

Pablo has a very interesting background with a lot of experience in folklore. Most recently, in 2002 Pablo received a scholarship from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Croatia and the Croatian Club Iquique in Chile to study folklore and Croatian Language in Croatia. While studying in Croatia Pablo danced in Folklorni Ansambl Turopolje under Tomislav Milicevic. Not only did he learn more about the dances but also how to sew Croatian Folk Costumes from Tomislav, who is well known in Croatia for that.

Eights months later Pablo returned to Chile to teach what he had learned and eventually in 2005 he returned to Croatia to do more research and polish his language skills.

Now Pablo's next venture has brought him to Los Angeles where he is Cultural Director at the Croatian Cultural Center and a member of Saint Anthony's Kolo group "Croatia". Pablo's work can be seen at theCroatian Cultural center where he beautifully displays Croatian Folk Costumes. This year he is excited to offer Croatian Folk Dance on Tuesdays at 7pm for children and Thursdays at 7pm for teens and adults. Also Pablo is offering a Croatian folk embroidery classes Wednesdays at 7pm. Pablo insists that no matter what level of interest and skill you may have, just come down to the center and have a great time!
